The Intercollegiate Academic Event

An Exciting Start

My classmates and I began our journey to the State of Mexico for the Intercollegiate Academic Event hosted by Instituto Tepeyac. The first day was all about connecting with students from other campuses. At Kinezis, a dynamic activity center, I spent time socializing with students from León, Guadalajara, and Santa Anita. It was a great chance to make new friends and break the ice before the academic challenges began.

After the all the fun we had the previous day we had our first challenge. It was Creación Literaria, where we were tasked with writing an individual story. My theme was science fiction, and I crafted a story about a robot stranded on a deserted island. It was exciting to let my imagination run wild and create a compelling narrative. The second test of the day was an Individual Math Test, which focused on trigonometry. It was a bit challenging, but I enjoyed applying what I’d learned in a competitive setting.

The next day the focus shifted to teamwork and critical thinking. The day started with the English Debate, where the topic was “Are international agreements like the Paris Agreement effective in combating global warming?” I found this topic fascinating, as it pushed me to analyze real-world issues from multiple perspectives. Working with my debate team, we prepared strong arguments and delivered them effectively during the competition.

Later that day, I presented my Science Project, which explored the use of Chlorella vulgaris algae to produce biomass and renewable electricity. This project allowed me to combine creativity with sustainability, addressing critical environmental challenges. My teammate and I worked hard to design a practical and innovative solution, and it was incredibly rewarding when we won first place!

A Day to Celebrate

The final day, November 15th, was all about having fun and celebrating the friendships we had built over the course of the event. We visited Six Flags, where we shared laughter and unforgettable moments with students from other campuses. It was the perfect way to close this incredible experience.

Why You Should Participate

Participating in the Intercollegiate Academic Event was more than just competing; it was an opportunity to grow, connect, and learn. From writing creative stories to debating pressing global issues and presenting scientific innovations, every moment challenged me to give my best. Winning first place in the Science Project was a highlight, but the friendships and experiences I gained were just as valuable. If you’re a student considering this event, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s not just about academics—it’s about making friends, exploring your potential, and building memories that will last a lifetime.
