My Experience in Canada

By: Camila del Valle, 6th Blue

I recently returned from a fabulous trip that I will never forget. My name is Camila Valentina Del Valle Prieto Danel, and I am a student at IT Innovation School. I want to share my experience during the school exchange in Canada with you. I took this trip mainly to immerse myself in another culture, discover different ways of learning, and experience living with another family.

Attending School in Canada

The Canadian school was spectacular. It had a large playground for games and, of course, plenty of snow. The classes were very interesting and fun, and I was amazed by how organized everything was. Everyone came up to me to get to know me and make me feel welcome, which allowed me to form unforgettable friendships, even though I was there for only two and a half days. I would have loved to spend more time with my new friends and take full advantage of the classes.

Winter Sports and Activities

During my stay, I had the opportunity to try new sports. I tried cross-country skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and, of course, sledding. Of all the activities, my favorite was ice skating—it was very fun, though challenging at first. The thrill of gliding on the ice and the laughter shared with my classmates turned every day into an adventure.

Living with My Host Family

The family I stayed with was incredible. Everyone was very kind and made me feel at home from the very first day. July-Ann, the girl I studied with, was very friendly, and her little sister, Emma, who is eight years old, filled me with joy with her energy and laughter. July-Ann’s parents, Marie-Eve and Maxim, welcomed me warmly and took me to several new places after school, which made my experience even more special.

Unforgettable Moments and Lessons Learned

During the week, we visited Château Frontenac in Quebec and enjoyed a huge slide where we sledded with our friends. On the last day, a visit to a museum in Montreal left me speechless. Every activity taught me something new and helped me grow personally. Now, upon returning to Mexico, I have the privilege of sharing my experiences and showing visitors the wonders of my country, just as my Canadian friends showed me theirs.

In conclusion, my exchange in Canada was an experience that combined learning, fun, and new friendships. Every moment reminded me that traveling and learning about other cultures enriches the soul and opens the mind. I hope to have the opportunity to repeat such a wonderful experience in the future.

Thank you!
