12 CARRERA ITX

By: Sofía Jimena Calderón Rosas, 4th semester

My name is Sofi and I ran the Tepeyac race on February 23rd. It was a very nice experience. From the moment I started walking towards the finish line with my dad and sister, I felt the excitement to the maximum along with nervousness. There were people of all ages. Some wanted to run to win and others, like me, just wanted to enjoy it with the family.

I have run 5K since I was five years old, but I had not done it for two or three years. That is why it was very special to do it again and finish in 38 minutes. It reminded me how much I like running and how incredible it feels to reach a goal.

The whole atmosphere was very positive. Before the race, we all did a warm-up to get our muscles ready for what was coming. My dad kept reminding me that the race was not just about running, but doing it with a special meaning and that it should be enjoyed at all times.

The whole 5K was a challenge, with some hills and the teachers who were at their points encouraged us. In my case, my teachers, when they saw me, shouted my name, cheering me on and with words of support, which for me was the best part of the whole route, which helped me to keep going and not give up.

The best part was when I got close to the finish line. I was very tired, but the excitement of arriving made it worth it. Before stepping onto the field, I ran with everything, doing a spring, overtaking a woman in front of me. At the end, they gave us medals, fruit, and power ade. My dad and I celebrated and went to get a leg massage to relax our muscles.

Beyond the competition, I learned about perseverance and teamwork, all the time accompanied by my dad. I saw how some runners helped each other, which taught me that the most important thing is not to win, but to enjoy the journey. It was also an opportunity to unite sport with faith, which strengthened me a lot.

Without a doubt, La Carrera Tepeyac is not just a sporting event, but an experience worth living. I am sure that I will continue to be a participant in these Tepeyac races.
